Windows is an abomination and a blight on computing.

I expect some very fundamental and simple abilities from an OS – managing disks and copying files are the two most fundamental of those abilities. Yet, in the past three days, Windows has failed at relatively small set of files – less than 1TB in total – nearly a dozen times, be it through the official WHS console backup (can’t see the disk, can’t partition the disk, can’t copy files to it without crashing) or Windows Explorer (refuses to format the disk, has delayed write failures on a disk optimized for “performance” instead of “quick removal”, doesn’t see the disk after multiple reboots, reports device is not ready).

I’m very close to throwing the machine out of window.
